Celebrate the season in Anacostia
Year-end celebrations are big in Ward 8, particularly in Anacostia. And Anacostia Coordinating Council (an APACC member) is right in the thick of things. ACC has their own event and they promote the events of others.
ACC’s Multicultural Holiday Celebration, in its sixth year, is being held Tuesday, December 4 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Anacostia Playhouse. In addition to celebrating the joy of the season from several tradition perspectives, the event is a drop-off location for gifts for kids 7 to 12. The presents will be part of the MPD 49th Annual Holiday Party for Youth at the Panorama Room.
Two other APACC members, Fairlawn Citizens Association and Historic Anacostia Block Association (HABA), also sponsor year-end holiday festivities. On Saturday, December 1 at 6:00 pm, the Fairlawn Citizens Association is holding their 32nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Fairlawn Park (Minnesota Ave SE and Good Hope Rd, SE). All are welcome. Historic Anacostia Block Association’s Christmas Caroling in Anacostia takes place Sunday, December 9 at 6:00 pm. All are welcome.
