Grow your Capacity: Free Music, Thunderclap and Non-profit Sector Must-reads

One of APACC's primary goals is to increase the organizational capacity of our members to work together to ensure that the environment is clean and accessible, residents are able to stay close to the river if they want, and the community has the assets it needs to support residents. One of the ways APACC strengthens organizational capacity is through a weekly post with information and skill-building opportunities. Check out this week's list.

Year of the Anacostia Candidate Forum - May 31

2018 has been declared the “Year of the Anacostia,” and the improvement of the Anacostia River corridor is increasingly covered in the news. The forum will be an opportunity for all attending Candidates to discuss their platform as it relates to the intersection of environmental restoration and community development. APACC will conduct a straw poll at the end of the forum.

The forum takes place Thursday, May 31, 2018, 6-9 pm at Anacostia High School (1601 16th St, SE, in the Auditorium). All At-large and Council chair candidates are invited. The moderators are Denise Rolark Barnes, publisher of The Washington Informer newspaper, and Andrew Lightman, managing editor of Capital Community News (DC MidCity, Hill Rag, and East of the River newspapers). The Anacostia Coordinating Council, a member of APACC, is coordinating the event.

  • If you're looking for a way to promote your cause and engage others in the effort, use Thunderclap, a crowdspeaking platform for social media. It's easy to use and there are free and paid (affordable) plans.
  • SmugMug is buying Flickr. Flickr reports:
    Nothing will change immediately with regard to your Flickr account. You will still access Flickr with your current login credentials and you will have the same Flickr experience as you do now. We will continue to work to make your Flickr experience even better.

    We think you are going to love Flickr under SmugMug ownership, but you can choose to not have your Flickr account and data transferred to SmugMug until May 25, 2018. If you want to keep your Flickr account and data from being transferred, you must go to your Flickr account to download the photos and videos you want to keep, then delete your account from your Account Settings by May 25, 2018.

    If you do not delete your account by May 25, 2018, your Flickr account and data will transfer to SmugMug and will be governed by SmugMug’s Terms and Privacy Policy.
