DC Appleseed makes the Anacostia River Sediment Project information accessible to non-experts
Do you care about the quality of the water in the Anacostia River so it's swimmable and fishable? Want to make sure fish and other aquatic life can thrive? DC Appleseed has the information you need to understand and comment on the Anacostia River Sediment Project (ARSP).
DC Appleseed received a competitive grant for technical support to improve the "public's understanding of technical reports, site conditions, and DOEE's cleanup proposal and decision for the Anacostia River Sediment Project." In addition to the technical summaries provided by environmental experts, DC Appleseed has made available easy-to-understand, plain language summaries of the technical reports. Anacostia Watershed Society and Anacostia Riverkeeper worked with DC Appleseed to prepare the plain language document. Read the summaries.
Now that you have an easier time understanding the details of what's at stake, mark your calendar with the date Saturday, August 25. That's when the final draft of the ARSP Feasibility Study will be released for public comment. (The "Feasibility Study (FS) is a tool for evaluating potential remedial (corrective) actions.")
