#letsgetcivic August 4 at CivicFest

APACC member Washington Parks & People along with the DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative, DJ Aphrosoul Lukumi, and many DC area nonprofits are organizing CivicFest 2018—a fun-, music-, art-, and action-filled day—with the ultimate purpose of creating a movement to take back DC from violence, poorly performing schools, crazy weather, and unequal access to basic services.

Join the festivities with an eye toward creating a better world Saturday, August 4 from Noon to 8:00 pm at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park (the southern edge is at 16th and W Streets, NW). The park is within walking distance of both the Columbia Heights and U Street Metro Stations. Not familiar with the park? It's 12 acres and includes statues and a cascading fountain and has a tradition of Sunday drum circles.

Take action in your community

CivicFest is not just about re-energizing, networking, and planning. It's about giving back to your community in tangible ways. Co-sponsor DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative will be recruiting volunteers to tutor children in DC Public Schools. DC Tutoring has partners which operate sites at Kelly Miller Middle School and Aiton Elementary School, among others in Wards 7 and 8.
