Register Now: Applying the Principles of Civic Ecology to Community Engagement in the Anacostia River Corridor

Part of a Capacity-Building Workshop Series hosted by the Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative.

The Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative will be hosting a webinar featuring Marianne Krasny of Cornell University’s Civic Ecology Lab, that will feature an overview of the principles of Civic Ecology and a discussion about how these principles may inform your work with communities within the Anacostia River corridor.

An integration of research and community engagement, Civic Ecology is a practice that supports stewardship, learning, and resilience in communities facing social and environmental stresses. This webinar will help you explore questions like:

  • How can restoration of the Anacostia River and its parks help build strong communities in Ward 7 and Ward 8?

  • How can my environmental education programs better serve stressed families?

  • Why should I incorporate environmental thinking into my community programs?

This event will be followed by an in-person workshop later in Spring 2020. To learn more, please contact Akiima Price (akiima_price@partner.nps.gov) or Erin Garnaas-Holmes (egh@cleanwater.org).

This webinar is part of a series of workshops hosted by the Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative intended to build capacity of many partners to meaningfully engage Ward 7 and Ward 8 families through programming in and restoration of the Anacostia River corridor.
