Celebrating The Past & Creating The future

We are excited to announce the return of the 2021 Family Late Skate series!

The late skate series is an extension of our Meaningful Engagement work to provide Anacostia Park programming that is relevant, inclusive, and directly beneficial to stressed communities. Each event will follow a theme and utilize the support of the Friends of Anacostia Park Friends Corps, National Park Service, and APACC members to lead multigenerational park engagements.

Each event will take place at the Anacostia Park Skating Pavilion and follow strict COVID-19 safety guidelines including mask requirements. Feature include arts and crafts, field games, music, skate rentals, fishing, and intentional family and elder engagements.

Sept 25: Anacostia Park Community History Project
We will collect park love stories from longtime users to support a future oral history project telling the story of the park through the eyes of the community.

October 13: Reimagine Anacostia Park
Friends of Anacostia Park will work with the National Park Service to lead a community input session to collect ideas around park improvements.

October 30, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm: Harvest Festival
This session will celebrate fall and potentially host a town hall like engagement around local issues of concern.

Stay tuned for program updates!
