Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes in the Bowser administration
A number of agency director and deputy mayor changes have taken place since September. To date, changes in agencies of interest to APACC:
Department of Behavioral Health: Dr. LaQuandra S. Nesbitt, Director of the Department of Health, is now Interim Director of Department of Behavioral Health (Mayor Bowser Announces Key Appointments, November 30). Nesbitt replaces Tanya Royster, MD.
Department of General Services: Keith Anderson moved from Department of Parks and Recreation to the Department of General Services. Anderson will be Acting Director. Anderson replaces Greer Gillis; see Mayor Bowser Announces Key Appointments, November 8.
Public Service Commission: Greer Gillis moves to the PSC (Mayor Bowser Announces Key Appointments, November 8). Some advocates are unhappy with the Greer Gillis appointment; WCP has the story: Environmental Activists Frustrated With Mayor’s Nominees to Public Service Commission.
Workforce Investment Council: Ahnna Smith moved from the office of the Deputy Mayor for Education, where she most recently served as interim DM, to the Workforce Investment Council (WIC) where she’s Executive Director. (November 19, Mayor Bowser Announces Key Appointments).
Serve DC: Ayris Scales, Director of the Office of Partnerships and Grants, now Interim Director of Serve DC. (November 30, Mayor Bowser Announces Key Appointments). Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services: Wayne Turnage, Department of Health Care Finance took over the DM spot from HyeSook Chung in September.
