Social determinants of health—such as access to productive green space, jobs, neighborhood safety—affect many who live in Wards 7 and 8. Who better to enter the contest?! Go online to learn more. Anacostia community forum focuses on breast cancer: This article in Environmental Factor, a newsletter produced by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, describes a recent multidisciplinary network meeting to “examine the effects of environmental exposures that may predispose a woman to breast cancer throughout her life.” The event was two days and involved local community leaders like Brenda Lee Richardson and Natalie Williams.
Legal Aid holiday closures: Legal Aid will be closed to the public December 24, 2018-January 1, 2019. In addition, general intake at their Northwest and Southeast (Big Chair) locations will be closed December 24, 2018-January 11, 2019. Normal intake hours resume Monday, January 14, 2019.
