Two orgs join APACC!
APACC is pleased to welcome Historic Anacostia Block Association and Kingman Island - Living Classrooms as members.
Ward 8's Historic Anacostia Block Association (Facebook), made up of every household in the neighborhood, works with residents and other organizations for the betterment of the community. One of their priorities is the health of the Anacostia River. Most recently, they actively participated in the storm water drain mural program.
Ward 7's Living Classrooms manages Kingman and Heritage Islands on behalf of the DC government. Living Classrooms and partners run on-island education programs for young people in the District, specifically from Ward 6, 7, and 8. In addition, the organization conducts workforce development activities, operates a green team, and engages more than 1,500 people every year in volunteer and recreational activities focusing on restoring habitat and interpretation of the Anacostia River.
