Recap: Applying the Principles of Civic Ecology to Anacostia Park
The Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative recently hosted a webinar featuring Marianne Krasny, founder of the Cornell University Civic Ecology Lab. The online event introduced the principles of “Civic Ecology,” a practice grounded in the overlap between community development and environmental restoration. This should sound familiar, because many of the principles of Civic Ecology are very similar to the Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative’s core values. The Civic Ecology Lab, which hosts online courses and meets with people all around the world, includes several examples of projects from the Anacostia River in its curriculum.
You can download the materials from the webinar event and watch a recording of the event below. If you would like to get involved with the Collaborative’s programming, outreach and events cohort, please contact Akiima Price.
