Community resources during the pandemic

APACC member organizations have been sharing resources that can support you and other community members during this crisis and we have compiled them here. If you have additions to this page, please email mbochynski [at] cleanwater .org.

Medical Resources

  • A list of where you can get tested if you exhibit COVID-19 symptoms

  • Children's National Hospital has set up a drive-thru/walk-up COVID-19 testing site at Trinity College (125 Michigan Avenue NE), operating from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. every day for children and young adults through age 22. This service will only be available for those who have been identified by their primary care physician as having symptoms of COVID-19. In other words, you must have a physician referral for testing. Seniors Resources

  • The number to know for all information and referrals from DC's Department of Aging and Community Living: 202-724-5626. Call for information, referrals, meals, or just for somebody to talk to.

  • You can find the latest updates from the DACL here.

  • Updated shopping hours at local grocery stores and markets for seniors and other at-risk individuals can be found here. At Costco, for example, those 60 years and older or those with physical disabilities can shop in special hours from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Food Resources

  • DC Central Kitchen will continue to offer lunch for children age 19 & under from 12 - 3 pm Mon. - Sat. at THEARC (1901 Mississippi Ave. SE.) 

  • Capital Area Food Bank & Martha's Table are offering food for everyone. 

  • DC Department of Aging will provide Senior Citizens with meals between 10 am - 2 pm in select locations - call 202-724-5626 for more information

Workforce Resources

  • If you are a D.C. resident and need to file for unemployment compensation, visit dcnetwork.org.

  • Safeway is hiring. Info here; apply here.

  • You may also file a claim for unemployment insurance by completing this application

  • Freelance Artists can connect with others and relevant resources by clicking here and by completing this form.

  • DC has opened emergency child care sites for children of health care workers, one of which is at our own Noyes Elementary School. For more information, go here.

Tenant Resources

  • If you are a renter and have questions during this time, you can complete this form to ask for assistance from the District's Chief Tenant Advocate.

  • For anyone experiencing homelessness, please contact The Community Partnership at 202-399-7093.

Business Resources

  • Mayor Bowser and the Council of the District of Columbia announced a $25 million fund for small business recovery microgrants to small, local businesses, independent contractors, self-employed individuals, and nonprofits to meet their short-term financial needs. The grant can cover employee wages and benefits (including fringe benefits associated with employment, such as health insurance), accounts payable, fixed costs, inventory, rent, and utilities. **Application closes at 11:59pm on Tuesday, March 31st**
